Integration of Rational Functions

نویسندگان

چکیده

A rational function can always be integrated, that is, the integral of such a is an elementary function. The integration procedure complex and consists four steps: elimination common zero-points numerator denominator, reduction to true function, decomposition into partial fractions obtained expressions using direct integration, substitution method or method. Integrating functions important because integrals trigonometric as well some irrational are reduced by appropriate transformations.

Integration of Rational Functions: Rational Computation of the Logarithmic Part

This formula is not satisfactory under a computing point of view because it introduces more algebraic quantities than necessary. The number P(a)/Q'(a) is called the residue of the root a of Q. We introduce the notion of multiplicity of a residue b that is the number of roots a having b as a residue. Trager (1976) introduced a new formula involving less algebraic numbers: let S(y) be the resulta...

Symbolic-Numeric Integration of Rational Functions

We consider the problem of symbolic-numeric integration of symbolic functions, focusing on rational functions. Using a hybrid method allows the stable yet efficient computation of symbolic antiderivatives while avoiding issues of ill-conditioning to which numerical methods are susceptible. We propose two alternative methods for exact input that compute the rational part of the integral using He...

Landen transformations and the integration of rational functions

We present a rational version of the classical Landen transformation for elliptic integrals. This is employed to obtain explicit closed-form expressions for a large class of integrals of even rational functions and to develop an algorithm for numerical integration of these functions.

A fast numerical algorithm for the integration of rational functions

A new iterative method for high-precision numerical integration of rational functions on the real line is presented. The algorithm transforms the rational integrand into a new rational function preserving the integral on the line. The coefficients of the new function are explicit polynomials in the original ones. These transformations depend on the degree of the input and the desired order of t...

Revisiting numeric/symbolic indefinite integration of rational functions, and extensions

We know we can solve this problem: Given any rational function f(x) = p(x)/q(x), where p and q are univariate polynomials over the rationals, compute its indefinite integral, using if necessary, algebraic numbers. But in many circumstances an approximate result is more likely to be of use. Furthermore, it is plausible that it would be more useful to solve the problem to allow definite integrati...
